A wrong turn put an end to a high-speed police chase through Suffolk County Wednesday night.
Police said 46-year-old James Sergio fled after being stopped in a drug-related incident in March. According to police, an officer recognized Sergio in Shirley Wednesday, sparking a 30-mile chase. The dangerous ground pursuit came to a safe conclusion as police said Sergio made a sharp and unexpected turn into the parking lot of the 6th Precinct in Selden. Pursuing officers, as well as several already at the station, cornered and arrested the suspect.
Police said there were no drugs in Sergio's car in the latest incident. Sergio was charged with reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and 44 other vehicle and traffic violations. His bail was set for $20,000 bond, or $10,000 cash. He is expected back in court April 11.
