A Hempstead woman plans to file a $10-million sex abuse lawsuit on Monday against the Suffolk County Jail in Riverhead. The woman?s attorney, Leonard Leeds, says his client was sexually abused during an exam at the Suffolk County Jail in Riverhead. The woman was at the jail for a parole violation and needed attention for a medical problem. She was examined by a physician?s assistant in December. Suffolk County officials confirm Gary Feinberg, the physician assistant, was arrested last month. Feinberg?s attorney, Edward Burke Jr., says his client adamantly denies the charges against him and looks forward to clearing his name in court. A spokesman for the Sheriff?s Department says he couldn?t comment on the case, but says it is being investigated and they have interviewed other inmates. Leeds says there may be as many as 20 women who have been subjected to sexual abuse and misconduct while they were being examined.
