A woman was punched in the face in Bay Ridge, and a person of interest is in custody, police say.

It happened just before 8:30 p.m. near 284 Bay Ridge Ave.

Police sources say it was a domestic violence incident. EMS took the woman to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn in stable condition.

Police sources say a knife was recovered at the scene but it was never used.

A 44-year-old man was also taken to the hospital for self-inflicted wounds to the neck but is expected so survive. Police say he was taken into custody and charges are pending.
