A Wading River woman pleaded not guilty to charges she was high on drugs when she crashed her car into a landscaper Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators say Brianna Hassett told police that she had recently smoked marijuana, then took heroin and Xanax before hitting Anibal Aceituno-Perez with her car in Ridge.
The Flanders landscaper was on a ride-on lawnmower at the corner of Route 25 and Pleasant View Road when the incident happened. Aceituno-Perez suffered several critical injuries, including a fractured spine.
Hassett was held on $50,000 cash bail, or $100,000 bond.
She is due back in court Sept. 19.
