A woman was found dead and her daughter injured in their Syosset home, and a neighbor believes a bitter divorce could be behind the crime.
Police spent Sunday combing over the Ingram Drive home. Authorities say the 56-year-old woman and her daughter were attacked around 11 p.m. Saturday. The daughter was found with lacerations on her arms and face. Her twin children were left unharmed and are currently being cared for.
While investigators remain tightlipped, neighbor Nancy Rohanni believes the daughter's soon-to-be ex-husband is to blame. "He murdered the mother-in-law," she says. Rohanni claims to have found a chef's knife in the middle of the road while she was driving by, and she believes it was used in the crime.
Investigators later collected the knife.
According to Rohanni, the daughter and her husband were in the middle of a vicious divorce battle.
Police are only saying that the attacker remains at large.
