A Nesconset woman died Wednesday when her car plunged off an icy parking garage and fell 30 feet to the ground.

Nassau police say the woman?s husband watched as the SUV fell. He was in the car with his wife, but jumped out in time.

Workers at a nearby office building complex say the garage, which is under construction, was an accident waiting to happen. They say a lack of security measures made the facility dangerous. Due to the lack of a guardrail at the top of the garage, the pavement appears to continue instead of dropping off.

Nassau police say they are investigating how the car went over the edge. A gate was placed at the top of the garage after the accident.
