A New Hyde Park woman was found dead inside her home after she was stabbed in the neck Tuesday.
Police say Sandra Bloom's son, Vaughn, was also found in an upstairs bedroom unconscious, possibly the victim of a drug overdose. A syringe was found on the ground near the 44-year-old man.
Police were called to the home on Knolls Road after the victim's husband Erwin found her on the kitchen floor at around 6:30 p.m.
Vaughn Bloom was taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, where he is in stable condition.
According to Detective Sgt. James Skopek, Vaughn is the focus of the investigation into Sandra Bloom's death.
Police say there was no sign of forced entry and the knife used in the murder was found inside of the home.
Authorities told News 12 that they have been called to the house in the past for "medical responses," although detectives would not elaborate.
