Police say a woman has been arrested in connection to a string of home burglaries in Nassau County.
According to detectives, Sonia Villegas, 34, has been charged with five counts of burglary in the second degree.
Police say the burglary spree started on April 7 when Villegas entered a home on Birchwood Drive in Westbury and removed assorted jewelry. Then, on May 27, authorities say Villegas entered a home on New York Avenue in Massapequa Park and removed assorted jewelry.
According to detectives, on June 1 Villegas entered a home on Jasper Street in North Valley Stream through a bathroom window and fled when confronted by a homeowner. That same day, Villegas also entered a home on Gates Avenue in Valley Stream and Debra Court in North Merrick and removed assorted jewelry and cash, according to police.
Detectives say they located Villegas later that same day as she exited Cash for Gold Pawn Shop located on Merrick Road in Massapequa.
Villegas' bail was set at $500,000.
