A Lake Ronkonkoma woman is accused of driving drunk and seriously injuring a 10-year-old boy in Holbrook.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Veterans Highway and Coates Avenue in Holbrook. News 12 obtained surveillance video of the accident that shows two sedans colliding, with one of the cars spinning onto Veterans Highway.
Police say 23-year-old Lauryn Ortiz blew a stop sign and crashed into another vehicle.
A 10-year-old boy in the back seat was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The boy's parents and 8-year-old sister, who were also in the car, were treated for minor injuries.
Ortiz was arraigned on DWI charges. She was released on her own recognizance and her license was suspended. Ortiz is due back in court on Jan. 6.
