The Carle Place woman accused of dragging her boyfriend to death while drunk behind the wheel is telling a very different story about the incident.
Charges against Jesnia Vega, 27, were upgraded Monday from DWI to manslaughter. Authorities say 26-year-old Louis Wiederer, of Westbury, was hanging on to Vega?s SUV trying to stop her from driving drunk. The incident occurred in July after a block party in Centereach. Police say Vega kept driving, causing Wiederer to fall off and go under the moving vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
In an exclusive interview from jail with News 12 Long Island, Vega claims Wiederer had a history of violence. She says on the night of the incident, she was trying to get away from him as he beat and choked her. Vega also says Wiederer?s death was an accident and she never intended to harm him.
Vega is scheduled to be arraigned on the new federal charges on Thursday.
