A Hempstead woman is accused of cashing thousands of dollars in fake checks.
Alicia Carter, 33, was arrested at the Bethpage Federal Credit Union in Hempstead Monday. Police say the woman tried to cash a fake check worth $9,000.
Authorities say Carter cashed two fraudulent checks in October for more than $9,000 each at the Bethpage Federal Credit Union located in Elmont.
She is facing several charges, including grand larceny.
