WMHO admits to owning collapsed Harbor Road, requests funds from FEMA

The Ward Melville Heritage Organization has admitted to owning the collapsed Harbor Road in Stony Brook and is now asking FEMA for help.
The road and dam that held Mill Pond in Stony Brook collapsed during a historic rainstorm in Aug. 2024.
A little over a month ago, the Village of Head of The Harbor announced a lawsuit against the Ward Melville Heritage Organization claiming they owned the road and were responsible for repairs.
The organization has since submitted a request for funding to FEMA and is waiting to hear back.
