The wintry mix of snow and ice Wednesday left slick conditions on roads across the Island.Crews in Riverhead have been applying a sand and salt mixture to roadways for traction. Deputy Highway Superintendent Ron Caffrey says most of the area roadways have been cleared, however, he reminds drivers to take it slow. In Carle Place, freezing rain continues to fall leaving roads and cars covered in ice. Click here for more on area road conditions.
Meantime, Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) is reporting trains on or close to schedule.
