Early morning flurries tapered off into sleet and rain as a winter storm hit Long Island Sunday. Though only a trace of snowfall accumulated on the south shore, News 12 Long Island Meteorologist Jeff Mendelson said up to two inches of snow accumulated on the north shore in Nassau County.
The ice, sleet and rain mixture caused roads to be slick and slippery. Motorists remain advised to drive slowly and with caution.
A wind advisory was in effect for all of Sunday, with gusts up to 40 miles per hour.
