WEATHER TO WATCH: Rain, snow expected for Friday night

Some minor snow accumulations are possible with the incoming storm.

WHAT'S NEW: No big changes to the forecast, Friday starts dry with some sun followed by increasing clouds. Rain arrives late afternoon into the evening with periods of rain into Friday night. Rain will mix with sleet and change to snow for parts of Long Island by Saturday morning with a slushy coating to an inch or so, mostly on colder surfaces in Nassau and along the North Shore. Rain and snow showers will taper off after lunch time Saturday. Not a major storm here but it will be messy Saturday morning.
WHAT'S NEXT: Another storm will arrive Monday into Tuesday with a wintry mix, rain, and gusty winds.

OVERNIGHT: Mostly clear and cold with less wind. Lows near 29 degrees with north winds 5 to 10 mph. Sunrise: 6:11.
FRIDAY: Some morning sun followed by increasing clouds and late day rain. Highs near 45. Light northeast to south winds. Sunset: 5:54.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Periods of rain mixing with and changing to snow with a slushy accumulation possible by morning. Lows near 34 with east winds 5 to 15 mph.
SATURDAY: A messy morning with rain, sleet and snow. Slushy accumulations possible on colder surfaces. Rain and snow showers taper off for the afternoon with highs near 43. Lows near 29.
SUNDAY: Nice with sun and clouds. Chilly with highs near 44. Lows near 34.
