A former star athlete from Shirley has been killed in Rhode Island.
Balloons were released last night in memory of 22-year-old Devin Burney.
Burney was a standout basketball player who graduated from William Floyd High School in 2013.
Burney was shot and killed in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday around 1:30 a.m.
Police say he was walking home from a club at the time.
A person of interest has been taken into custody.
