Weston families celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday by participating in an event to prepare goodie bags for children in need.
Families gathered at LaChat Town Farm to fill up 'kindness bags' with games, crayons, pencils, and handmade cards.
The bags will be distributed along with meals to children in need by nonprofit 'Filling in the Blanks.'
The event was created by Jennifer Bernheim of 'On Purpose Family.'
Bernheim says Martin Luther King Jr. Day is also known as a day of service.
"The point of this is really to bring people together for a day of service," Bernheim says.
Each child who participated in the event was also given a book to take home called "A Day to Remember," which is a story about civil rights.
