Nesconset man charged with DWI in crash that shut down Jericho Turnpike in Elwood 

The crash happened on Deer Park Road at the corner of Jericho Turnpike at around 2 a.m.

A Nesconset man is facing DWI charges after allegedly causing a car crash Friday on Jericho Turnpike in Elwood.

Police say the driver, Wesley Sitar, 45, collided, with another car at around 2:20 a.m. as he was trying to turn from Jericho onto East Deer Park Road.

At least one car was smashed with air bags deployed and the roof ripped off.
The other driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Sitar was also injured.

The road was closed for some time after the crash, but has since reopened.
