A Westbury woman today met the kidney donor who gave her the gift of life.

Dawn Bates and Tiffany Tung met for the first time today. The two Long Island women are sharing more than most people - Tung received a transplanted kidney from Bates last October at the North Shore-LIJ Kidney Transplant Center.

"Somebody had a need and I said I can help," says Bates. "It started there and built from there."

The two women say they plan to keep in touch.

"The joy of it all is looking at Tiffany and knowing that she is going to be well," Bates adds.
