The wicked winds sweeping across the area may be partly to blame for the death of a Nassau County woman.
Police say Westbury Xiang Ji, 67, of Westbury, was struck by a sheet of plywood that fell from a building in Flushing on Thursday.
According to police, Ji was hit while walking near Flushing's busy Main Street.
Newsday says a violation has been issued, and the property owner has been ordered to put up protective covering on the sidewalk.
