The West Islip community came together once again on Saturday to raise funds for a family that was impacted by a deadly house fire last week.
The event at the 1683 Sports Bar & Grille happened a day after residents came out in droves to support the football team in their first game since team member Kyle Dilegame, 16, died in the fire.
The event was also in memory of Dilegame's older brother, 24-year-old Matthew Kreamer.
Bar owner Adam Iqbal said that he planned the fundraiser on Monday, two days after the fire. He said he was overwhelmed by the response.
Even the surrounding communities came to show their support for the family.
There were raffles and specials and organizers said it was to rally the community to give back to the family for their ongoing expenses.
Iqbal said he would match all the proceeds raised and even started an online fundraiser for the family.
