People lined Underhill Avenue in West Harrison for the town's annual Veterans Day parade on Friday.
Veterans in the community expressed what it meant to have support from their town.
"We are getting recognized on Veterans Day and I am grateful," said veteran Anthony D'Onofrio.
Friday's celebration had a special meaning for the community because the parade and ceremony was dedicated to Air National Guardsmen Technical Sgt. and NYPD Detective Joseph Lemm, who lived in West Harrison.
The 45-year-old was killed in a suicide bombing in Afghanistan last December.
