A wind advisory is in effect for Eastern Suffolk County until 1 a.m.
News 12 meteorologists say rain showers with wet snow in the mix will taper off late Wednesday.
A slushy coating on the North Shore hills of Nassau County is possible.
Meteorologists also advise to watch for icy spots on the roads. They say it will be windy and cold, with lows near 34 degrees.
Thanksgiving will be mostly cloudy and cold with the chance of a brief sprinkle or flurry.
Highs will be near 40, with northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.
