The damaging winds that lashed Long Island overnight and today are beginning to let up.
The National Weather Service had issued a high-wind warning for all of Long Island. The warning has expired, but winds will continue to howl through the afternoon.
The winds were gusting around 30-60 mph, and downed trees and powerlines have been reported.
Today will see a mix of sun and clouds, and temperatures will top out only around 42 degrees.
Temperatures overnight will drop into the upper-20s and low-30s, and a freeze warning will be in effect for the Island because vegetation has already started growing in this early spring season. The coldest temperatures will be in the Pine Barrens.
Monday will see a mix of light snow and rain showers throughout the day. It will be breezy, with winds 10-20 mph. The high temperature will top out around 50 degrees.
Tuesday will be partly sunny and breezy, with highs near 41 and lows near 26.
