The nasty weather caused some problems at airports Wednesday.
The FAA says LaGuardia Airport faced a "ground hold" condition, meaning flights there could be held at the gate for up to three hours. At JFK, flights could be held for up to nearly two hours.
There were at least two dozen cancellations, most of them consisting of connecting flights coming from other regions hit hard by bad weather.
Port Authority Aviation Director Tom Bosco promised beds if there were mass delays.
"If by chance your flight is canceled, and you find yourself an unexpected guest at the airport, we're going to do our best to make you comfortable and minimize your inconvenience," he said. "We'll provide cots, pillows, blankets and other amenities to help you out."
Port Authority officials advise travelers to check with their airlines to make sure about delays or cancellations before leaving home.
