As of today, there are 2,425 Nassau County residents hospitalized for COVID-19 – an increase of 72.
On Thursday, there were 272 discharges from hospitals across Nassau.
Curran said the trend of hospital discharges is greater than hospitalizations for the fifth day.
Meanwhile, the number of patients on ventilators is 477 – an increase of 22 patients.
Curran says the county can't move forward with rapid testing unless it is approved by the FDA. "Our first responders will be first in line to receive it," says Curran.
According to officials, there is a disparity in African-American and Hispanic communities for rate of infection. "We are in the thick of the battle and we don't want to lose this fight in these communities," says Curran. The county is working to get more testing to 'hotspot' areas.
Lastly, Curran says county golf courses are closed until April 29 as per the updated mandate from Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
