9:15 P.M. UPDATE: The severe thunderstorm threat for Long Island is over. That said, scattered ponding of water and debris from earlier storms can continue to impact travel overnight. Please use caution. The last of any thunderstorms will exit the East End by around 10 p.m.
You will notice a big drop in temperatures for the end of the week and into Memorial Day Weekend, following the summer-like heat we had to start the week. You should keep a rain jacket and umbrella with you on Thursday, too, as clouds and showers will linger through at least mid-afternoon with high temperatures in the mid- to upper 60s. It will dry out more for Thursday evening.
Unfortunately, the weather for the upcoming holiday weekend continues to not look good with periods of rain. The wettest day still looks to be Saturday, but scattered rain showers can still be around Sunday and Monday, with temperatures warming back up into the 70s by Monday.
