A large winter storm is moving toward the Northeast later today. Expect snowfall to begin this afternoon, after 3 p.m. and become a headache to deal with late tonight.
Snowfall rates may become intense at times, allowing visibility to be reduced late this evening. Use caution and avoid traveling overnight. Four to eight inches of snowfall is expected.
Snow may be briefly mixed with some sleet as warmer air tries to move in. This would add an extra slick element on walkways and roadways.
The system moves out Saturday morning with drier conditions to follow for the rest of the day.
Another system is in sight for Sunday into Monday, bringing mainly rain showers to the region with gusty winds to follow. The gust will linger from Monday afternoon into New Year's Eve.
