NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ALERTS:
Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Up to one foot of flooding above ground level is expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.
This will especially be true during the high tide timeframes:
Rye Beach - 5:49 PM
New Rochelle - 5:53 PM
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Rounds of moderate to heavy rain will move into the Hudson Valley through the day as a large storm system pushes into the Northeast.
Both commutes will be impacted with the potential of visibility on the roads being lowered from heavy rains.
Gusty winds could reach 40 MPH, which could blow around Halloween decorations and other loose items.
Localized flooding is possible all across the Hudson Valley, but especially in the low-lying areas of Westchester and Rockland counties.
Coastal flooding has a higher chance of occurring due to the persistent easterly wind off the Long Island Sound pushing water on to Westchester County shoreline.
Rain tapers off overnight into Friday morning. Some drizzle will linger for the Friday morning rush. Halloween is mainly dry but gusty winds will linger.
Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday morning, where the clocks "fall back" at 2 a.m. and we get an extra hour of sleep.
