Wantagh man charged with hate crime after allegedly pulling shotgun on neighbors

A Wantagh man accused of pulling a shotgun on his neighbors has been charged with a hate crime.

A Wantagh man accused of pulling a shotgun on his neighbors has been charged with a hate crime.
According to documents, Joseph Magistro, who is white, threatened to "put a bullet" in a woman and her grandson, who are black.
He allegedly used the n-word and told the victims they were living in a white neighborhood. Police say the incident took place on Bayview Avenue Monday
Officials say the victims, a 62-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy, ran back into their house and called 911. They also say the teen posted about the incident on social media.
Police say Magistro also threw barbells into the windows of his neighbor's house during the heated confrontation.
Magistro is charged with hate crimes, as well as menacing, aggravated harassment, trespassing, weapons possession and criminal mischief.
