A teacher at Wantagh High School was arrested and charged with third-degree rape Wednesday for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old boy.

According to Nassau County Police, 25-year-old math teacher Heather Kennedy faces charges of third-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child for the alleged sexual encounter that took place last week. Police say Kennedy had sex with the boy in the school parking lot in the student's car.

The alleged victim was reportedly questioned by his father after coming home late last Wednesday. Police say the teen then told his father that he had sexual intercourse with the teacher.

Several students told News 12 Long Island they believe the allegations are false. The Wantagh schools superintendent says Kennedy has been reassigned out of the classroom pending the outcome of the investigation.
