Tails were wagging in Yorktown Saturday as hundreds of dog owners and their four-legged companions gathered for the annual SPCA Westchester Dog Walk — raising money to help rescued animals find loving homes.

The event brought together families, animal lovers and local organizations for a day focused on supporting homeless pets and promoting animal welfare in Westchester County.

Among the attractions was an agility obstacle course hosted by the Port Chester Obedience Training Club, where dogs showed off their training skills. Susan, a club member, demonstrated the course with her dog Callie, who navigated jumps and obstacles with ease.

Susan says Callie has been training in agility for about three and a half years.

Organizers say the annual fundraiser helps support the care, shelter and adoption services provided by SPCA Westchester, which works to rescue and rehome animals across the county.

Residents interested in supporting rescue efforts or learning more about pet adoption can visit the website for SPCA Westchester.
