Eight future guide dogs spent Wednesday training with volunteer puppy raisers in Huntington.

The event took place on Internation Guide Dog Day and was made possible by the Smithtown-based Guide Dog Foundation.

The volunteers help prepare the pups to be well-rounded guide dogs for someone who is blind or visually impaired.

Wednesday's training focused on obedience, loose leash walking and dog/toy distraction.
