Volunteers got together in Syosset Monday to collect much-needed food for Thanksgiving.

The Family Helping Families event was organized by UJA Federation.  

The volunteers will create and deliver food baskets to families in need, homebound seniors and veterans.

Organizers say the small gestures can make a huge difference for the Long Islanders.

The event has been running for nearly 15 years.
