A group of musicians have come together on a mission to honor the nation's war heroes and lift their spirits through music.
Dr. Robert Goebel is a chiropractor by trade, but his musical talents take center stage in his spare time. He leads a group called Dr. G's Voices for Veterans, a 45-member ensemble that offers a medley of gospel choir and rock 'n' roll.
Goebel began playing music and organizing events to honor and benefit veterans in 2008.
His group practiced for a year before recently performing a musical tribute to 22 veterans who served in conflicts from World War II to the war in Afghanistan.
All of the money raised at the concert will go toward the Voices for Veterans Scholarship at Nassau Community College. The fund provides college money for veterans and their children.
