The village of Floral Park is trying to put a stop to construction of the Belmont arena.

Officials have filed for a temporary restraining order, asking a judge to prohibit developers from driving or building in certain areas, including Plainfield Avenue.

The state agency overseeing the project, Empire State Development, has said it has adhered to all requirements under state law.

As News 12 has reported, the arena would be the new home of the Islanders hockey team.
