A vigil was held tonight at a makeshift memorial dedicated to five teenagers killed in a car accident in Farmingdale.
Police say the five victims were in a 2001 Nissan heading west on Conklin Street when it veered into the eastbound lanes and crashed into an SUV near Staples Street. Four of the teens, who all attended Farmingdale High School, died Saturday. They have been identified as 14-year-old Carly Lonnborg, 15-year-old Noah Francis, 17-year-old Tristan Reichle and 18-year-old Jesse Romero. The fifth victim, 17-year-old Cody Talanian, passed away last night at the hospital.
A wake was held for Romero a few blocks away from the vigil,.
In a show of support for the victims and their families, students and staff at Farmingdale High School wore green, the school's color, to school today. Flags at the school and local fire department were also flown at half-staff.
A cause of the crash has yet to be determined. Police are searching all of the teens' cellphones to see if anyone was texting or talking on the phone at the time of the crash.
