News 12 has obtained video that shows the SUV sought by police in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a visually impaired man.
As News 12 first reported, 64-year-old Warren Karstendick, of East Patchogue, was struck on East Main Street near Phyllis Drive before 7 a.m. Sunday. Police say Karstendick was walking with his cane in the eastbound shoulder of the road when he was struck.
The disturbing video was captured by a surveillance system at a nearby business. It shows Karstendick walking before the crash, and it appears to show the SUV's driver look in the direction of where Karstendick was left lying in the street.
Police are seeking a 2002 to 2005 model-year Ford Explorer that is dark blue in color and likely has front-end damage.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
