A family in Miller Place moved into a new home Wednesday after years of hardships.
The house was built at a low cost through donations for Glenn Cote, an injured Army veteran, and his wife and son, who have been battling illnesses.
"Our son was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 5," says Renee Cote. "I have a rare illness and my husband got hurt."
The family was renting not far from their new home when they learned that their landlord had foreclosed on the property.
The community and Landmark Properties responded in a big way. Through donations of time, money and labor, their new home in Miller Place was built in just four months for under $200,000.
"The love that they have shown for our son and for us...it's been overwhelming and amazing," says Glenn Cote.
"We said we'd do it by Christmas, we're a week and a half ahead," says Mark Baisch, of Landmark Properties.
The company say it is building its 12th home right next door for another veteran family. That family is expected to move in around June.
