The Town of Babylon is continuing its crackdown on vehicles blasting excessive music.

Town officials say residents reported loud amplified music around 9 p.m. on Friday coming from a vehicle meet-up on Bell Street in West Babylon.

In response, the Suffolk County Police Department took enforcement action and cited Steven Mejia, of Huntington Station, whom the town identified as a repeat offender. He was again issued summonses and had his vehicle impounded.

Officials say he was previously addressed by the town during a similar incident in May on Adams Boulevard in Farmingdale.

Town officials said they plan to meet this week with Suffolk County police and residents who have voiced concerns about the impact the vehicle gatherings and amplified sound systems are having on their quality of life.

The Town of Babylon Investigations Unit has also identified several recurring problem areas that will be the focus of increased enforcement.

Those locations include the Edison Avenue industrial area in West Babylon, as well as Carolyn Boulevard and Adams Boulevard in Farmingdale.

"These vehicle meet-ups involving excessively loud amplified music will not be tolerated in the Town of Babylon," town officials said. "Residents deserve to enjoy their neighborhoods without repeated disruptions to their peace and quality of life."
