A Valley Stream mom says she delivered her baby while on the way to the hospital.
Bella and Johnny Guzman were making the 10-minute drive to Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre last week when little Valentina Guzman was born.
Bella Guzman said she just felt the need to push and couldn't wait until the emergency room.
The Guzmans tell News 12 they both knew that they were out of time when they got stuck at a traffic light at the entrance to the hospital parking lot.
“She says ‘I can't wait. My water broke.’ I said ‘Wait, wait.’ I'm still thinking we have a few minutes,” says Johnny Guzman.
Johnny Guzman admits he was so frazzled that he accidentally hit the sidewalk.
"I pushed and the baby came out. The whole body. And I just grabbed it and put her on my chest," says Bella Guzman.
The family says they arrived outside the emergency room. Doctors and nurses swooped in and took over.
Both mother and child are doing fine.
