Suffolk authorities charged an allegedly abusive boyfriend Wednesday with the strangling of a 29-year-old Copiague mom last week.
Police say Osman Giovani Suarez, 29, killed his girlfriend Virginia Alvarado with a speaker cord Thursday. According to police, Alvarado's body was found in the couple's 26 Edmunds Place home the same day. U.S. Marshals worked with Suffolk police to find Suarez, who they arrested Tuesday. Norbert Palacios, the victim's cousin, claims Suarez is a wanted criminal in Honduras and abused Alvarado throughout their four-year relationship.
Police say Suarez signed a written confession in Central Islip, where he is being held without bail. Alvarado leaves behind a 10-year-old daughter.
