A U.S. Coast Guard ship in Virginia has been named in honor of a Stony Brook native killed in the line of duty.
Nathan Bruckenthal was killed stopping a suicide attack in the Arabian Gulf in 2004.
Bruckenthal's family attended ship dedication Wednesday.
The Nathan Bruckenthal ship will be stationed in North Carolina.
