Part of a $33 million Sandy restoration fund has been washed away by heavy surf and strong winds along Ocean Parkway.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been dredging the area along the road to rebuild sand dunes eroded by the recent nor'easter that hit Long Island.
They are working to backfill the beaches in what has become a biannual exercise.
The corps is working with the state Department of Transportation, using mostly offshore equipment to pump sand down the beach through hydraulic pipes.
Critics say this endless battle is only a short-term answer.
