There is an urgent call being made for FEMA to free up Sandy funds to reopen Long Beach Medical Center.
The hospital is in talks to be taken over by South Nassau Communities Hospital and turned into an emergency center.
Sen. Charles Schumer says FEMA must let Long Beach Hospital transfer its $100 million in Sandy aid to the new owner.
Without the aid, the takeover may not happen and the hospital will stay closed.
Long Beach Medical Center has been closed since Sandy.
