A Uniondale man was sentenced to 25 years to life Thursday for attempting to murder four Nassau County police officers.
Prosecutors say Duane Costa opened fire at a traffic stop in Hempstead in October 2018.
"Costa was shooting to kill," says Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly. "He didn't want to be arrested; he didn't want to be caught. He didn't want to be stopped. He wanted to end the lives of those officers and thankfully he missed."
None of the officers were hurt in the incident.
