Uniondale home sees burglary, shooting hours apart

A gunman is on the run after a Uniondale man was shot in his home, which was also the location of a robbery hours earlier.
Police say someone broke into the home and ransacked a back bedroom Wednesday night. Thursday morning, someone shot the owner twice and fled, according to police. The victim was rushed to the hospital.
Later Thursday morning, police put the entire Uniondale School District on lockdown for a short period of time while they searched for the gunman. Police continued to search for clues at neighboring homes and at the scene.
Police say the victim?s 20-year-old stepdaughter was arrested for marijuana possession nearby. They want to know if she was at the home at the time of the events and what she may know.
Neighbors say they can?t believe so much involving one family happened in such a short amount of time.
Authorities say it is not clear if the burglary and shooting are related. The victim is in stable condition at Nassau University Medical Center.
