Twenty-four people homeless after Bay Shore fire, officials say home was illegal

A Sunday morning fire at a home officials say was divided into three illegal apartments has left 24 people homeless.A police officer had noticed the fire and was able to get everyone out without any injures.

A Sunday morning fire at a home officials say was divided into three illegal apartments has left 24 people homeless.A police officer had noticed the fire and was able to get everyone out without any injures. Firefighters said when they arrived at the scene there were flames coming out of the home's roof. The building was so badly burned that the two dozen people are now staying at a hotel. The town is investigating for possible code violations and fire officials are looking into what caused the fire.
