A person was fatally struck by a Long Island Rail Road train Saturday afternoon west of Amityville.

According to the MTA, the person was stuck around 2:20 p.m.

Details surrounding the victim were not immediately made available.

Many riders experienced delays for a few hours on the Babylon line.

Service was fully restored around 4:30 p.m., but there were still residual delays as of Saturday night.
