Town of North Hempstead releases quails to combat tick population

The town of North Hempstead is using birds to fight off ticks.

The town of North Hempstead is using birds to fight off ticks.
In order to reduce the tick population without using pesticides, North Hempstead is releasing 75 northern bobwhite quails onto the Hempstead Harbor Trail at North Hempstead Beach Park.
The effort is in partnership with the Center for Environmental Education & Discovery.
