Residents of Babylon could see a significant increase in their taxes due to next year’s proposed budget.

The town supervisor confirms that a 9.9% tax levy increase has been proposed in next year’s budget.

The proposed tax increase is part of a $175 million spending plan that would cost the average household $173 more in town taxes per year.

The Town of Babylon says this is due to the higher costs for employee salaries and health insurance premiums.
